As we shared at our most recent Sunday gathering on February 27, it is time to renew your membership or to let us know that you are no longer a part of Northway Church.
Along with renewing your membership, as a part of this process you will also be asked to review and vote on an updated Northway Statement of Faith and Bylaws. The new, proposed Statement of Faith and Bylaws differs from our current documents, which were adopted directly from The Village Church. However, it is important to note that our core beliefs have not shifted in any way. Rather, we have sought for these documents to better fit our unique context at Northway. With that said, we are sincerely asking you to read these documents carefully before voting!
If you have any questions or concerns after reading the proposed Statement of Faith and Bylaws, you are invited to a Member Q&A on March 13th from 1-2:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall, where we will be happy to discuss these documents with you in detail.
Why Membership Renewal?
Membership renewal is important because we believe that church membership is important! First Peter 2:5 says this, "You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." The church is a spiritual home. It is a place that is central to our spiritual formation, where we can know others and be known deeply.
This process also allows Northway's elders to have a greater understanding of the church body for which they are accountable and to better know the people they are to care for and shepherd. We are excited for this process and thank you in advance for taking the time to go through the renewal!
