Are you a graphic designer, interested in pursuing a career in ministry? Or maybe you’re seeking to sharpen your creative skills with intentions to live on mission in the secular workforce? During this one-year Communications Internship, you’ll be exposed to the inner workings of church communications, from communications strategy to design to social media. You’ll be developed professionally in your skills to prepare you for your next step and spiritually as you discern God’s leading in your life.

Position Details

What You’ll Do

  • As assigned, lead communication and design projects that serve the ministries of Northway Church.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager on the strategy and creative direction for ministry initiatives.
  • Assist with Northway social media accounts.
  • Help craft communication plans for Northway events.
  • Receive regular coaching from the Communications Manager.
  • Participate in the Northway Intern Development Program as able.
  • Additional responsibilities possible in line with the applicant's abilities.

What You’ll Need

  • Believes in and can communicate the Gospel of Jesus.
  • Agree with Northway Church’s Statement of Faith and committed to exhibiting a consistent lifestyle.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or have received a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, or a related discipline.
  • A desire to serve the local church body with your creativity and work.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite and Google Suite.
  • Experience in photography, motion graphics, or videography is a nice-to-have.

The mission for Gospel Communities (GCs) at Northway Church is to love one another, welcome neighbors, and become family. The goal of the GC Internship is to: 1) discern a calling to groups ministry, 2) develop ministry-specific skills, and 3) use your experience and gifts to strengthen groups ministry in the local church.

Position Details

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in all-staff, 1:1, and GC team meetings.
  • Assist in daily GC ministry activities by completing projects, such as, following up with GC leaders and members; data management; preparing for events; helping place members into communities, or other tasks as required.
  • Join or lead a Gospel Community at Northway. 
  • Participate in Gospel Care and Gospel Mission classes. 
  • Contribute to the recruiting, care, and coaching of GC leaders.
  • Help place Northway members into Gospel Communities. 
  • Complete assigned readings and reflections as part of intern development.
  • Participate in or lead GC events as determined by the Lead GC Minister.
  • Attend one worship service and serve at another.
  • Participate in the Northway Intern Development Program as able.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as determined by the Lead GC Minister.

Requirements and Qualifications 

  • A personal belief in and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • In agreement with Northway’s Statement of Faith and exhibiting a consistent lifestyle.
  • Willing to become a member at Northway.
  • High School Diploma required. College/seminary degree valued.
  • Proficient verbal and written communicator.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace.
  • Desire to shepherd God’s people.

The Student Ministry Intern assists in the areas of teaching, discipleship, administration, volunteer care, and special projects while learning how to effectively oversee ministry to middle schoolers, high schoolers, their parents, and volunteers.

Position Details

Job Responsibilities

  • Teach gospel-centered curriculum to students 6th-12th grade.
  • Assist in the recruiting and onboarding of new Student volunteers.
  • Create healthy relational connections with the students, parents, and leaders.
  • Assist in running Sunday and Wednesday programming and events.
  • Collaborate on the development of curriculum for students.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Participate in the Northway Intern Development Program as able.
  • Attend and participate in weekly all-staff and 1:1 meetings.
  • Attend classes and volunteer at Northway Training.
  • Other tasks and projects as determined by the Student Minister.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A personal belief in and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • In agreement with Northway’s Statement of Faith and exhibiting a consistent lifestyle.
  • Willing to become a member at Northway.
  • High School Diploma required. College/seminary degree valued.

  • Previous experience working with students.

The Worship Intern assists in shepherding and caring for the church by leading music and liturgy for ministries at Northway Church.

Position Details

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn, implement, and improve the philosophies and practices of the Worship Ministry.
  • Recruit, equip, schedule, and encourage volunteers in the Worship Ministry.
  • Lead worship in various ministries with musical skill and theological care.
  • Aid in planning and executing services and events.
  • Assist in maintenance and setup of instruments and equipment.
  • Participate in writing songs for corporate worship at Northway Church.
  • Other tasks and observation opportunities to be determined by the Worship Minister.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A personal belief in and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • In agreement with Northway’s Statement of Faith and exhibiting a consistent lifestyle.
  • Willing to become a member at Northway.
  • High School Diploma required. College/seminary degree valued.
  • Proficient verbal and written communicator.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace.
  • Desire to shepherd God’s people.
  • Experience leading worship.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Musically and vocally trained (Proficiency in guitar or piano required).

The objective of the Ministry Assistant is to support the Executive Pastor (XP) of Ministries. This role primarily administratively supports the XP of Ministries in planning, communicating and executing weekly goals and ongoing projects and secondarily supports Gospel Communities and Care ministries. This position is full-time.

Position Details

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and maintain budget and expenses under the direction of the Executive Pastor of Ministries.
  • Plan and execute logistics for staff meetings, fun days, staff development, and retreats in collaboration with the Executive Pastor of Ministries; oversee room and technology set-up for meetings; assist in the preparation of agendas, minutes, and other documentation.
  • Represent Executive Pastor of Ministries through verbal and written communication including phone calls, emails, and written correspondence. Ensure timely responses to all requests. 
  • Create clarity by confirming details ahead of meetings, taking minutes, and tracking next steps.
  • Assist with administrative management of membership database.
  • Maintain a calendar for events under Executive Pastor of Ministries.
  • Serve as liaison between Executive Pastor of Ministries and staff, membership, lay leaders, etc as needed.
  • Manage logistics to execute Gospel Community events: Roundtables, New Leader Training. Responsibilities include bulk email communication, facilitating event needs with Ministry Services, ordering supplies, and tracking RSVPs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
