The Training Program is a year-long discipleship initiative. We will study key Christian beliefs, practice spiritual disciplines, and live on mission. Our hope is to see participants experience deep community and deep formation.
During this intense and immersive discipleship experience, we will dive into Christian Belief, Christian Formation, and Christian Mission. Our meetings include lectures and groups discussion. Each member will be assigned a table group who they will sit with throughout the year. We hope that the equipping you receive during this course changes the trajectory of your life – that by the end of the program, you feel trained to more meaningfully lead in the local church.
The Training Program lasts from August to May, on Sundays from 4:00-6:00 pm. In the spring, there will be six additional Wednesday night meetings. Due to the length and commitment of the program, we are looking for members who have margin in their life and calendar or are willing and able to make margin. We are allowing two excused absences per semester (with the exception of medical & family emergencies) before we'll graciously ask you to leave the program and apply next year, so please keep this in mind when assessing your margin.
Fall Semester: August 16th-December 13th
Spring Semester: January 3rd-May 2nd
The program costs $400. There are two reasons for this. First, this fee covers the cost of the program, including honorariums for guest teachers, books, and hospitality. Secondly, we also want you to have skin in the game – it's one thing to say you're committed for a year and another to sacrificially set money aside for the program. If finances are a barrier to you, we'd love to talk to you. Please email lthomson@northwaychurch.com.
The work load for this class is mainly divided into two parts.
We do not offer childcare for the Training Program. If childcare is a hindrance to your participation, please reach out to us, and we will see what we can do!
The Training Program is an intense year! This program will not work for the overcommitted. That said, it has been a struggle for folks to complete this program while also going through engagement. It’s possible, but difficult!
You will be placed at a table with a leader and 6-8 fellow participants! They will be your group for the entire program.
The Training Program is member-prioritized. This means the class will be vastly members of Northway. For any non-members who apply, we will assess those applications on a case-by-case basis.
Participants are allowed two unexcused absences per semester. If this limit is exceeded, we will kindly ask you to leave the program and invite you to apply again next year. Please reach out to Logan if you have more questions about this!
