Position Summary

The Student Minister gives oversight to the ministry of 5th-12th graders and their families. They lead the ministry by shepherding, training, caring for and creating a volunteer culture where effective downline discipleship to students thrives. This person also seeks work with the NextGen department to equip parents to be the primary disciple makers in their home. 


Essential Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Encourage and equip Northway parents to disciple their students. 

  • Effectively teach students that range from 5th-12th grade.

  • Oversee curriculum and train volunteer teachers.

  • Recruit, screen, train and retain student ministry leaders that build a culture of disciple relationships.

  • Oversee logistics for Sunday programming, Formation, Student trips and events.

  • Maintain a safe environment for students to connect with peers and be discipled by leaders.

  • Oversee budget and calendaring for Student Ministry programs.

  • Attend staff meetings and keep scheduled office hours.

  • Minister to the Northway church body as called upon.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • In agreement with Northway Church’s Statement of Faith and committed to exhibiting a consistent lifestyle.

  • Comprehensive understanding and profession of faith in the Gospel.

  • Faithful covenant member at Northway Church (or pursuit of membership upon hire).

  • Bachelor Degree from accredited college or university.

  • Seminary Degree (can be in progress) in pastoral ministry or Christian education. 

  • Able to work within a team, teach large groups, interact intentionally with parents, communicate via email/newsletter other means of written word.

  • Able to connect with pre-teen and teen students.

  • Able to weigh values and discern priorities. 

  • Able to manage time well and have a hard work ethic. 


Job Type: Part Time
Hours: 28 per week
